The Waikato University Men's team has only lost once in 4 years, and this was in 2004 when Cambridge University won a close race to a strong University of Waikato crew. Cambridge are back in 2006, so Waikato are looking to reclaim the winning edge. So far it is one all (Waikato won in 2002).

This years Captain is again crew veteran Andrew McCowan, who is the only rower to have rowed in all four Great Races to date. Andrew believes the University of Waikato has the crew to win the Harry Mahon Trophy this year from a crafty Cambridge University crew.

	Scott Lissington 21 yrs Studies science and commerce 6'1 and 92kgs Former Rowing NZ Junior Academy 1st time Great Race rower.		Liam O'Halloran 20 yrs Studies science 6'3 and 87kgs Former Rowing NZ Academy 2nd time Great Race rower.
	Byron Arnold 22yrs Studies electronics 6'2 and 94kgs Former Rowing NZ Academy 2nd time Great Race Rower.		Selwyn Cleland 25 yrs Studies Science 6'6 and 94kgs Rowing NZ Elite men's coxless four 3rd time Great Race rower.
	Paul Hartley (Coxswain) 21 yrs Studies sport and leisure 5'4 and 55kgs Former Rowing NZ Academy rep 2nd time Great Race coxswain.		Ross Tonks Coach 45 yrs 2001/02 Coach NZ Junior Men's 8 1995 NZ Elite Women's Quad Coached over 40 crews to NZ titles.
