Kiwi Mums Messages

Kiwi Mums is a positive community providing an encouraging outlet where women can feel free to just be themselves! Below are some short little messages from people involved with Kiwi Mums.

Diana Astwood (KiwiMums Group Coordinator)

"Kiwimums is a wonderful group of mothers that meet together every fortnight. Its a wonderful place of camaraderie and to share motherhood together. I have such a passion for kiwimums as in my everyday life and work, I meet a lot of lonely mothers. Struggling and toughing it out alone. We are not alone! I came to kiwimums after I got depression and found out about it through church, I was in a dark place. But when I eventually went along, I found a supportive group of Mums getting together and having a HOT coffee, a chat, a laugh, a craft or an interesting speaker. It was wonderful to have others who have and who are going through what we are. A common bond! I felt prompted by the Lord to help out in the running of kiwimums, so I offered to be secretary, the offer was accepted with open arms. I am now running the kiwimums mornings as coordinator. I am blessed to be part of such a wonderful mums group and thankful to be able to serve."

Angela (Mum)

"It's a great place to meet other mums and be able to have a conversation uninterrupted. Knowing your kids are being looked after in a safe and caring environment. Being able to chat to the older mums in the group, seeking a different viewpoint, support and encouragement. Meeting a variety of ladies that you normally would not."

Jenny Jack (KiwiMums Leader)

"I joined kiwimums when I was expecting my first baby, once baby was born I had meals made for me. It was a wonderful support and comfort for my family. I was blown away by the generosity and kindness that the mums showed me. Kiwimums is a place where you can meet other mums and form a network. In organising the morning, we in turn hope that kiwimums provides an atmosphere of support and connection for other mums."

Shona (Mum)

"Kiwimums is a place where you can go for time out and meet other people. It is something a little different, it's different to playgroups or any other group I go to. You get to meet a variety of people and from the ages of 23-60 years of age. I enjoy having a theme for the week, a thought I can ponder on, and from that being able to reflect on my own life."

Rachael MacDonald (KiwiMums leader)

"The thing that sticks out the most for me from kiwimums is the friendliness & support of other mums on the same journey. Its a low key, relaxing morning where you can be yourself and just enjoy. Someone to talk to, to listen to. A place where you can be really encouraged and supported. The biggest thing about kiwimums is the 'knowing you are not alone.' Knowing that parenting gets easier not harder. It revitalises, recharges me and I come away feeling great. As it so happens I love craft and being able to do a craft is wonderful. Something you can do and finish and take home with you. All in all, it's NOT TO BE MISSED!"
