The Gallagher Great Race

University of Waikato vs University of Cambridge

The ninth annual Gallagher Great Race will see the University of Cambridge (UK) challenge the University of Waikato on Sunday 5 September 2010.

This will be the fifth time these two rowing giants have competed against each other since the inaugural event in 2002 and the score is drawn 2 all. Last time they met in 2008 Cambridge won by a scant quarter of a boat length after a mad sprint for home in what has been dubbed 'the best ever' Great Race. This year promises to be a fiercely contested battle for glory over the 3.85km 'against the flow' course for the Harry Mahon Trophy.

The Waikato women will compete for the Bryan Gould Cup against a top Australian university crew.

Feel the excitement of live rowing action along with free entertainment and family fun making the Gallagher Great Race a day for the whole family to enjoy.
