Ball is a sellout
Organisers of The King Street Great Race Ball have been swept off their feet with tickets selling in a record five weeks. Matt Taylor said the $150 tickets sold out four weeks before the actual event. "We believe the ball is New Zealand's best party and something Hamilton is becoming known for."Aside from the Great Race, the ball has become an icon event in its own right. And the price of the $150 tickets is great value when you factor in all the entertainment, food and drink that is included."
A night like no other in New Zealand, The King St Great Race Ball combines masquerade, extravagance, indulgence, surprises and mind blowing entertainment. It is a ball full of colour, movement, make-believe and the magic of seven different entertainment styles with simultaneous live music. The event is always a hugely memorable experience. Themed around great parties of the world, ball goers can step out in their dancing shoes and party the night away in Mexico, New York, Ireland and Berlin. Entertainment stretches over 12 live acts and 130 live performers.
King Street Junction is the hub of the ball. "Not only does everything access off King Street, but it is the coming together of the meeting, eating, drinking and dancing creating a wonderful energy," says Matt. "Expect to experience street theatre, themes masked actors and dancers."
Stop off at Glastonbury, the venue of the biggest music festival in the world. This party is going to rock. It is styled for rock 'n roll, the seventies and today, and headlines The Mods.
Move on to New Years Eve in Times Square. Boogie with DJ Tyrone and his disco, with music from the seventies and eighties.
Become part of a Latin carnival featuring a traditional Mexican mariachi, or pull up a pew and get a fix of blarney at the St Patrick's Day celebrations.
Cruise the Berlin's streets and get down with the beats, enjoy Vienna on the Lake or a Berber village at the Morroccon Imilchil Festival on the eastern lakefront.
Non-stop entertainment until 3am, a supper club and an international food court all contribute to the greatest night out in 2006. The Great Race Ball takes place at the WEL Energy Trust Academy of Performing Arts on Saturday, September, 2. Let the journey into the magic of masquerade begin. "This is not your average night out," says Matt.
