Rainbow Place Set to Benefit from the Great Race
The Arrow International Great Race Charity Fun Run & Walk is expected to raise over $10,000 for Rainbow Place. The Hospice Waikato initiative which offers free child focused family centred palliative care and bereavement services, will receive 100% of the $10 entry fees generated by the event. With the support of Arrow International, who are covering all event costs, organisers are able to donate all proceeds plus extra donations to the charity.Arrow International's Regional Manager Steven Alsemgeest, said that Arrow is proud to be associated with the Gallagher Great Race rowing festival. "The Gallagher Great Race is an iconic event for Hamilton and the chance to support a worthwhile regional charity was an opportunity too good to miss," said Alsemgeest. The 10km fun run or walk promotes fitness and participation in the outdoors which is in keeping with the unique culture at Arrow. "Our staff and clients are known to regularly hang up hard hats in favour of running shoes, hiking boots or a paddle that takes us on adventures to remote parts of New Zealand,' said Alsemgeest.
Since its inception three years ago the charity fun run and walk has grown from 150 entries to over 600 last year. All entries (limited to the first 1,000) received by Thursday 31 August go into the House of Travel sponsored draw for a trip for two to the Gold Coast flying Freedom Air, including four nights accommodation at Santorini Apartments.
The 10km river circuit starts and finishes at the Grantham Street public boat ramp, immediately opposite Arrow International's offices.
The Gallagher Great Race is held on the Waikato River on Saturday September 2nd with the Arrow International Charity Fun Run and Walk starting at 10am. Other entertainment from 11.30 includes a free community concert at the Ferry Bank followed by top National and International rowing. The Gallagher Great Race between the University of Waikato and Cambridge University (UK) men's eight's will race at 2pm.
