Great races think alike

Members of the V8 Supercars outfit Team Racing raced around the streets of Hamilton yesterday for a television advert for the Gallagher Great Race on the Waikato River.

Part of central Hamilton was cordoned off for filming.

Boathouse Events director Mark Ingle said the commercials would showcase Hamilton as "the home of all great races" and would feature "icon" events, including the rowing and the Supercars.

The ads are expected to air on TV1 and TV2 within two weeks.

This year's Great Race is on September 8.

The race will be followed by The King St Great Race Ball at the WEL Energy Trust Academy of Performing Arts at Waikato University.
