Great Race crew chances at world champs

Both University of Waikato crews competing on Saturday 8th September in the Gallagher Great Race have rowers currently impressing the rowing community in the World Champs in Munich.

Nathan Twaddle, rowing with ex Waikato student George Bridgewater, has made it through to the Pair semi finals and Emma Twigg has propelled herself into the women's single quarter final.

The pressure is on for Twigg with only nine woman's singles qualifying for the Olympics. Twigg is on-form though and has made her way through the heats and the quarter final in style.

Twaddle and Bridgewater have established themselves as one of the event favourites and are looking promising in moving through.

Pressure is also being felt by the Gallagher Great Race organisers with Twigg on a waiting list to get a flight out of Munich in time for the race in Hamilton.
