Take dad for a fun run this Saturday
A closed section along the Hamilton river path has caused the Arrow International Great Race Fun Run & Walk to change its route for this Saturday's event.
Participants will now have the choice of completing a 6.5km or an 11km walk and run, as part of the build up activities to the Gallagher Great Race. The start/finish line will remain at the corner of Hillsborough Terrace and Grantham Street - opposite the offices of Arrow International.
"Take your dad out for a bit of Saturday exercise," says Becks Meuli, Event Producer for the Gallagher Great Race. "Then bring him back for some racing action on Father's day."
The Hamilton community is being urged to participate as 100% of entry fees go to Hospice Waikato. The University of Waikato women's eight will be joining in as a warm up for their big race against Sydney University.
The Gallagher Great Race kicks off with free family entertainment from 10am on Sunday 7 September. Challenge dad up the ZM rock climbing wall, sit back and listen to some live music, and get your cheering voice ready to root for the Waikato University guys and gals as they take on Cambridge and Sydney Universities.
The elite rowing will commence at 12noon, with the race starting at Ann Street and finishing in front of the Ferrybank on Grantham Street.
