Gallagher make commitment to Great Race
The Gallagher Group have announced their continual support of the Gallagher Great Race and have signed a further three year sponsorship agreement.
"Gallagher continues to be extremely happy with the sponsorship of this iconic event," said Margaret Comer from Gallagher Group.
"This event meets all the criteria of our sponsorship - excellence, commitment, quality and fun."
The commitment from Gallagher to date has allowed Boathouse Events to establish a fantastic community sporting spectacular, with a significant global following.
"From a community perspective, this is a great thing. From Boathouse Events perspective, it secures longevity of the event," says Rob Hamill from Boathouse Events.
Already in its seventh year the Gallagher Great Race is establishing its place in Hamilton history. This new agreement ensures the event will happen past the hosting of the Rowing World Championships in 2010.
"20 years time there will be train spotters looking up who won what race, race times and river height," says Hamill.
Steep in tradition the Gallagher Great Race and the University of Waikato could lay claim to nine of the 16 New Zealand Rowing Olympians in this year's Beijing team.
"Hamilton is the New Zealand city for rowers," says Hamill, "it is a great thing indeed."
