Bryan Gould Cup - University Women's Race
University of Waikato came first, 37 seconds in the lead. University of Melbourne came second. University of Sydney came third. Waikato dominated from the start, leading the Australians all the way, winning by a handsome margin.
Harry Mahon Trophy - University Men's Race
University of Waikato came first by 34 seconds followed by Melbourne then Cambridge.
Three boat format this year had the crews apprehensive but excited and rightly so. In the tenth anniversary of the Men's Race, there was high drama at the start as Waikato and Cambridge clashed resulting in a restart and Cambridge rowing rudderless.
This year Cambridge were back to defend their title, being 3-2 in the lead against Waikato. This result evens the score 3 all.
Waikato coxswain Ivan Pavich steered a perfect line to keep Cambridge out of the good water giving them the winning margin right to the end.
